Dark Night of the Soul…
It is the nature of who we are to at least once in our lifetime… hit the proverbial wall. An emotional-mental-physical stress-filled breakdown where our world and how we experience it collapses and comes to an end. We are in internal (and outer) CHAOS!
Sometimes it's out of the blue and hits us hard and fast… sometimes it’s a slow, steady build up to where we reach a tipping point where our ‘current way of being’ in relationship with our self and others… is over, and we know it and it’s completely disorientating.
If we understand this experience in its proper context… it is your Soul calling you to grow, to change, to transform into the next healthier, happier, grander version of yourself; to a Heart & Soul authentic and empowered way of being with your Self and others. A Heart & Soul-filled life with new values, meaning, and perhaps purpose. Your ‘ways of being’ and ‘ways of seeing’ your Self and the world around… radically shift and become richer in All-Ways.
The challenge is, the transition process… and how we work with it… or not!
Unfortunately, we have come to collectively believe that medication to numb the inner turmoil is best. Sometimes, maybe it is, sometimes, it is not. In my world view, we have forgotten this is a natural, organic inner force at work… and sometimes, it is best to work with our inner chaos and confusion for a ‘period of time’ to allow the creative forces of our Soul-Spirit Self work through us. This is the ‘road less travelled’, but I feel for a Soul-Spirit evolutionary leap… it is usually, most necessary.
There are ways and means to support the stages of this Soul transition process. Knowing the path, the pitfalls and learning how to work through and clear difficult emotions and feelings can help reduce transitional stress. Clearing out old stuck patterns, finding new boundaries and experiencing new heart-centered feelings and beliefs... allows us to act and be in new ways that truly support our Soul-Spirit path.
The book, Transitions is excellent in clarifying and helping to support stages of this process;
Endings.. finding closure to letting go of old ways of being with yourself and others,
The Void.. being in the dark, acceptance and surrender to having no inner frame of reference,
Beginning.. Finding that small inner spark, that star, the light in the dark that grows as you move towards it until it leads you into a grand new vista of YOU!
(My interpretation of the stages!)
